NEW! APF Releases Survey Results and Launches Initiative on Breakthrough Cancer Pain Having cancer can put you and your family on a difficult, often unpredictable, emotional journey. It also takes a physical and mental toll. But managing the symptoms of cancer and its treatment, including pain, fatigue, nausea, depression, and problems with sexuality, is an important part of comprehensive, quality cancer care. A new survey released by APF reveals that breakthrough cancer pain - sudden, temporary flares of severe pain that occur even when pain medication is used - is one of the most challenging aspects of having cancer and significantly affects quality of life, according to three out of four (75 percent) U.S. adults who have ever been diagnosed with cancer and experience this type of pain.
