Importance of Exercise

"...[exercise] has been absolutely vital to my recovery and ongoing effort to maintain my health." Derek McGinnis, Exit Wounds

Check out our Upcoming Events page to see what events are available to you and get involved!  If you know of a local event that we should post here, please contact us.  Do you need some motivation?  Read the chat transcript, Physical Exercise: Part of Your Pain Care Plan.  To see which events Derek is participating in, read his blog, Scuttlebutt.  Check out sports and recreation resources provided by governement, veterans service organizations, and cilivilian non-profit groups.

Voices of Veterans

Our Voices of Veterans with Pain section has inspirational stories from veterans like you who have gone through hell and made it back.  They share how they continue to persevere in their battle with pain.  We encourage you to submit your story.  Please write a few paragraphs about your experience and any words of support you wish to convey to others.  You never know when your particular journey, tip, or coping strategy might help someone else.  Read Exit Wounds for more voices of survival.

Online Support Group

PainAid is the American Pain Foundation's Online Support Community.  Discussion boards and chat rooms are available 24/7.  The Military/Veterans Initiative of APF has set-up a special section for military service members, veterans, and their families and caregivers.  PainAid features daily hosted chats, nurses and experts to answer your questions, and fellow persons with pain who truly understand.  Read more

Military/Veterans Survey

APF is committed to reaching out to servicemembers and veterans who suffer chronic daily pain and provide them with educational information to improve their pain care, decrease their sense of isolation, and support them in their pursuit of a better quality of life for themselves, their families and caregivers.  So that we may better address those needs, we ask that you complete our Military/Veterans Survey
