APF Applauds Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) Report
The IOM Committee on Advancing Pain Research, Care, and Education report on the state of pain care in our nation was released to the public on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, following a live event in Washington D.C.
APF released a press release expressing optimism that the IOM report conveys your struggles to our policy makers and to the general public; serves as a beacon for the removal of the barriers preventing effective pain care; quantifies the seriousness of pain and its undertreatment; and provides recommendations that will serve as the foundation for improving pain research, care, education and treatment for all.
A consensus press statement endorsed by APF and 35 other consumer, health professional and advocacy organizations was made available during a press conference that immediately followed the public release of the IOM report.
The report, “Relieving Pain in America: A Blueprint for Transforming Prevention, Treatment, and Research” is available at www.iom.edu/relievingpain. Click here to take action on this issue.
